Chuck Leah: Bio

Chuck Leah

In the true spirit of independent music, Chuck Leah has been an active singer/songwriter for 25 years. A highly motivated, adaptive, and focused musician, he has succeeded at various responsibilities in the ever changing music industry.

Known for his sober ballads, heartrending lyrics, and an oddly callused, raspy voice, Chuck started his expedition in the 80’s as part of the folk house concert movement. However, as an accomplished bassist, Chuck was versatile enough to cover bass with a variety of bands and a host of musical identities. He spent most of the 1980’s performing in various venues with such rock bands as; Haste, NNY, and The Mighty Smites. During the 1990’s he recorded Undone and toured broadly as the bassist/vocalist with country band Tumbleweed, finishing off the 90’s on a stint with Sammy Hagar.

In the ensuing years, Chuck cut a bundle of new songs with the folk rock band; The Weeds, including Austin musicians Ron Condon and Scott Olivier, as well as sessions with Thrift Shop Cowboy. In addition, he served as bassist in a trio led by singer/songwriter Doug Clark Steiger, featuring percussionist Angel Villarreal. In 2006 he released Drive, co-produced by an accomplished Italian guitarist Ettore Biagi.

Formally based out of Austin, Texas, the “Live Music Capital of the world”, Chuck is now based in Houston, Texas. Chuck has had the privilege of composing, recording and performing with several international artists. He has toured extensively and has started production on his fourth solo venture. Chuck will proudly be returning to MP Recordings (Master Productions) for his latest enterprise, where his initial efforts were recorded nearly 20 years ago. His solo recordings include: Undone, Drive, and the nearly completed Burning Bridges.
